Amendments to the 2009 Special Regulations
| Amendment 1 - Hull Construction (has been replaced by Amendment 7) | |||
| Amendment 1 - Hull Construction has been deleted and replaced by Amendment 7 as below. | |||
| Amendment 2 - Gas Systems | |||
| This changes requirements for a gas detection system. Only gas systems with a permanent flame such as a pilot light require a gas detection system. | |||
| Amendment 3 - Personal Floatation Devices, Safety Harnesses and Personal Locator Beacons | |||
| Corrections to applicable categories or standards for manufacture as applicable to PFD, safety harness or PLB regulations. The PFD component of Amendment 3 is included in Amendment 9. | |||
| Amendment 4 - Movable and Variable Ballast | |||
| Changes to the treatment of moveable and variable ballast to bring into line with ISAF requirements. This applies to the inspection and certification of systems and the calculation of stability. | |||
| Amendment 5 - Variations for OTB boats | |||
| MYAs may consider, and if found appropriate approve variations to the Special Regulations Part 2 for Off the Beach Boats. | |||
| Amendment 6 - Lifebuoys | |||
| This amendment brings Yachting Australia's lifebuoy regulations closely into line with the ISAF Offshore Special Regulations but retains the requirement that lifebuoys be in safety colours as previously prescribed in the Special Regulations. | |||
| Amendment 7 - Hull Construction | |||
| ISAF have amended the ISAF OSR in response to outcomes from the working party into hull construction and plan checking. Yachting Australia has amended its Special Regulations to meet these changes. This Amendment replaces the previously published Amendment 1 and in effect changes the implmentation dates and how existing ABS designed boats are treated when being modified. | |||
| Amendment 8 - EPIRBs, PFDs and PLBs | |||
| It is recommended that all non-GPS capable 406 MHz EPIRBS and PLBs be replaced by GPS capable 406 MHz beacons as soon as possible. This amendment introduces mandatory GPS capability for 406 MHz beacons from July 2015. Also introduced in this amendment is the mandatory wearing of PFDs between sunset and sunrise, which includes a recommendation that PFDs be worn at times of heightened risk. The PFD component of Amendment 8 is included in Amendment 9. | |||
| Amendment 9 - PFDs | |||
| Australian Standard 4758 for PFDs is now referenced in the Special Regulations Part 1 for yachts and Part 2 for off the beach boats. This amendment also removes the requirement for retroreflective material and whistles on Type 2 PFDs for yachts racing categories 5, 6 and 7. The ban on PFD Type 3 for off the beach dinghies is also deleted. The PFD components of Amendments 3 and 8 and included in Amendment 9. | |||
| Amendment 10 - Resistance to Capsize | |||
| The amendment is the result of a significant amount of work carried out by a group of subject matter experts in accordance with recognised risk management procedures, and addresses the stability requirements for category 1 and 2 races. | |||
| Amendment 11 - Liferafts | |||
| Amendment 11 address changes to liferaft requirements providing for international compatibility and easier packing and servicing. It adopts the principles of the ISAF OSR, grandfathers USL rafts, and updates the packed equipment and grab bags. | |||
| Amendment 12- Pulpits, Stanchions, Lifelines | |||
| The prohibition on the use of carbon fibre in pulpits, stanchions and lifelines is deleted. | |||
