Update on I & R Shipping Assistance - January 2005
The following information was sent to the International & Recognised Classes, affliliated at that time with Yachting Australia on 23rd December 2004:
As you are aware Yachting Australia has enjoyed a long relationship with P&O Nedlloyd which has benefited many Australian sailors attending class World Championships overseas. We are very grateful to P&O Nedlloyd for their ongoing support.
Due to the increase in demand for container shipping into and out of Australia we are currently renegotiating arrangements with P&O Nedlloyd. Unfortunately at this time P&O Nedlloyd cannot ship containers for International & Recognised classes free of charge.
However, in 2005 P&O Nedlloyd has agreed to offer shipping assistance to International and Recognised classes at best price. This price will depend on factors such as where the container is being shipped, when it is being shipped, and what capacity is available at the time.
To assist in P&O Nedlloyd’s planning and to maximise the opportunities for support from P&O Nedlloyd to your class, we would like to request the following information:
- Your class’ likely requirements for shipping over the next three years
- Details of World Championships for the next three years (venue, dates – if known)
It would be appreciated if you could please provide as much information as you can at this stage to Natalie Francis at Yachting Australia (
Natalie.Francis@yachting.org.au) by 21st January 2005.Any questions from individual sailors should be directed to their National Class Association in the first instance. Any questions from National Class Assosications should be directed to Natalie Francis at Yachting Australia.
