Australian Schools Team Racing Championship - 4 Rounds Completed

Chris Kelly, amended by Yachting Australia, Wednesday, 6 July 2005

The first day of the Australian Schools Team Racing Championship was a great success. Despite a two hour delay due to lack of wind and a very shifty breeze for the remainder of the day, four rounds of five races under the Swiss League system were completed.

The race committee worked extremely hard, regularly shifting course marks between races and the sailors were pleased with the courses and starts set.

Racing was close and exciting and at the completion of the first four rounds results are:

4 Wins
The Hutchins School (TAS)

3 Wins
St Hildas School (WA)
Cranbrook School (NSW)
Guilford Young College/St Virgils College (TAS)

2 Wins
Christ Church Grammar School (WA)
Brisbane Grammar School (QLD)

1 Win
St Josephs School in Port Lincoln (SA)
Mater Maria Catholic College (NSW)
Brighton Secondary School (SA)

0 Wins
The Peninsula School (VIC)

The temperature was expected to drop below five degrees overnight, which will cause light winds today.
