Each of the officiating disciplines; Race Officer, Judge, Umpire and Measurer shall share almost identical principles and requirements at each of the given levels of accreditation. *
A broad overview of the revised education guidelines is as follows below.
- MYAs will be given the resources and guidelines to run seminars and assessments for candidates
- Seminar Presenters are suitably experienced or qualified officials for the level of audience the are presenting to
- Lesson plans will be based on
- the relevant ISAF resources
- existing resources used by the current program
- existing resources used by “best practice” MYAs
- Handouts will be based on
- the relevant ISAF manuals
- existing resources used by the current program
- existing resources used by “best practice” MYAs
- Examinations will be conducted in conjunction with State and National level seminars and be based on
- the relevant ISAF resources
- existing resources used by the current program
- existing resources used by “best practice” MYAs
- Pass marks are and scoring methods shall be clearly published
- Applicants may resit an exam at an approved location and under appropriate supervision
- Assessors are suitably experienced or qualified officials for the level of candidate they are assessing
- Assessors shall not have a conflict of interest with the person being assessed
- The assessor uses the guidelines listed on the assessment form
- The assessor shall evaluate whether to recommend the person as a Club, State or National appointment
The revised principles of assessment are as follows below.
- Assessment forms clearly detail the competencies to be demonstrated
- All assessments shall be shared with the candidate
- All assessments are valid for up to 4 years
- Assessment as Club level means the assessor has evidence that the candidate does not meet many of the criteria to become a State level official
- Assessment as State level means:
- The candidate has demonstrated the competencies listed for some to most of the time, and
- That given further experience and training at State or National Level competition will progress to National level.
- Assessment as National level means:
- The candidate has demonstrated the competencies listed for most to nearly all of the time
- That the candidate has demonstrated a high level of expertise
* Note that Measurer education may vary slightly from the other disciplines of officiating due to the different nature of the role.
