To teach short courses such as Radar or Diesel Engine Maintenance:
RYA/YA Radar Instructor Course
Potential instructors must be experienced in the use of small marine radar and their knowledge should be well in excess of the RYA's Radar course. Persons having completed a Master Class 5 Radar competency at TAFE who have sufficient operating experience may be suitable.
Background: Increasing numbers of vessels globally are fitted with X-band radar, probably the most versatile item of navigational equipment available. Operating this equipment safely and effectively requires knowledge of radar limitations in order to comply with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (IRPCS). Learners completing the RYA/YA Radar course will gain the knowledge required to operate small craft Radar competently as a collision avoidance and navigational tool.

Training must be carried out at a Recognised RYA/YA Shorebased or Practical Training Centre that is registered to deliver these courses.
