Training & Participation Update
Monthly Update by Chris Kameen, Participation & Training Manager and Sonia Robinson, Training Services Coordinator
Safety & Sea Survival Course
A reminder for those wishing to take part in the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race to ensure their SSSC certificate is current. Please do not leave it until last minute to sign up for a course as the cut off period for receipt of applications for SSSC certifiates is December 14th - a week earlier than usual. We will not be able to guarantee that we can process courses where we receive the paperwork after the 14th December. A list of accredited Training Centres can be found at the following link .
New Instructor Renewal Process
If your Instructor Renewal was due in September and you did NOT receive notification by email, this is because your details need updating through 'My Sailor'. Please login using your Yachting Australia ID (or membership number) and password and 'edit' your personal information. Alternatively, please email email@example.com to renew. Note: it is a YATC condition of recognition that all instructors be current when teaching at a YATC.
This is still an area that we are looking to develop as there are several YATC's struggling to find qualified instructors. If you are either a parent who would like to develop your skills or a Club member that would like to become an instructor, or indeed an existing Club/School thinking of afilliating as a YATC, please let us or your State Yachting Aussociation (MYA) know so that we may facilitate with the delivery of Instructor Training in your area. Alternatively, you can check out our Training Calendar from the homepage (under 'Events') to see what is available in your area.
Yachting Australia Training Centre Affiliations
Welcome onboard to South Australia Training Centres who have recently joined directly to Yachting Australia along with YNSW and YQLD. Please ensure that you comply with (YAGN) before completing (YA1) and return it to Yachting Australia. You will then receive your Training Centre affiliation pack and have access to discounted prices from our online bookshop. YATCs should now be aware that buying in bulk will work out the most affordable option for purchasing your Scheme publications. Each student will receive a Complimentary Waterproof Satchel for their Scheme Logbook and supporting text book(s). Make sure that you place you order well in advance to avoid late delivery. If you have any queries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and quote your order number where relevant.
All Student Value Bundles are available from our Online Bookshop www.yachting.org.au/shop
Please note, it is a condition of recognition that you issue the recommended course materials for all Yachting Australia Training Schemes and ensure that students are enrolled in 'My Centre'. By purchasing titles from our shop, you are supporting the development of the National Training Schemes.
