Australian sailors take part in AIS camps
Australia's leading Olympic class sailors recently took part in a series of camps at the Australian Institute of Sport, providing an opportunity for the athletes to learn from some of the leading professionals in Australian sports and prepare for the year ahead.
The Australian Sailing Team, Australian Women’s Match Racing Team and Australian Sailing Development Squad all spent time at the AIS in Canberra during February with the camps providing an ideal opportunity to bring such a diverse group of sailors together.
The athletes attended lectures on topics such as nutrition, recovery and media training as well as taking part in a series of physical tests.
With Australian sailors competing at regattas all over the world the AIS camp is one of the only times during the year that the group comes together in one place.
The Australian Women’s Match Racing Team will be the next group of athletes in action, taking part in a regatta in New Zealand in early March before a number of athletes head to Spain for round three of the ISAF Sailing World Cup at the end of the month.
