All systems go for SIRs
Preparations for the Sydney International Regatta (SIRs) are at full steam ahead, with interest pouring in from both international and inter-state competitors.
All Olympic and some Youth sailing classes are set to be represented, with the newly-nominated Ynglings using the regatta as a State championship and the Finns for their nationals.
The event, to be held from December 13-17 at Woollahra Sailing Club, is handily timed to give competitors in the 29er skiff class a thorough warm-up before their world championships, while for Olympic class sailors SIRs provides vital training and experience in the build-up to Athens.
Class to be sailed are 2.4 Metre (International Class), 420 (International Class), 470 (Olympic Class), 49er (Olympic Class), Europe (Olympic Class), Finn (Olympic Class), Laser (Olympic Class), Laser Radial (International Class), Star (Olympic Class), Tornado (Olympic Class), Yngling (Olympic Class).
