Yachting Australia Announces Team for Rolex Challenge
Yachting Australia is proud to announce the Australian team for the Rolex Challenge.
Loki skippered by Stephen Ainsworth and Quantum Racing (previously Hollywood Boulevard) skippered by Ray Roberts, both members of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, will form the national team.
In announcing this, Yachting Australia President Andrew Plymptom said "We are delighted to select such a strong team to represent Australia in the Rolex Trophy. Both boats have achieved outstanding results in recent competition and we look forward to following their progress in this prestigious event."
The Rolex Challenge consists of nine races, the eight race Rolex Trophy - Rating Series, to be sailed off Sydney Heads from 15-18 December and the Rolex Sydney Hobart. It is contested by teams of two boats, representing different nations, Australian states and clubs. One boat must have an IRC rating under 1.21 (in this team Quantum Racing) and one must be over 1.21 (Loki).
Last year’s Australian team, consisting of Syd Fischer’s Ragamuffin and Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban, finished third, with the New Zealand team taking the honours.
More information on the Rolex Challenge, Trophy Series and Sydney Hobart can be found on the CYCA website.
