Passage Making
Yachting Australia, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 The Yachting Australia Training Series has increased to six with the release of the final book 'Passage Making.'
The books have been produced to support the Yachting Australia Training Schemes, offered through Yachting Australia Training Centres (YATC) around the country. The books and the Schemes cover all types and levels of boating, ranging from learning to sail a dinghy or keelboat through to cruising, top level racing and power boating.
Yachting Australia’s Participation and Training Chris Kameen, stated, “Yachting Australia is committed to assisting everyone to discover the fun of boating and sailing. Whether as a sport, lifestyle or great adventure, everyone can participate for life. The Yachting Australia Training Series is one way to assist people on their journey”.
He went on to say ”The books have been tailored specifically for Australia and its local conditions, are comprehensive yet are presented in a simple and easy to understand format. Yachting Australia is proud that well known Australian “yachties” such as Iain Murray, Tom King, Hugh Treharne and Adrienne Cahalan support the Yachting Australia Training Series, contributing the forewords to the books.
The books have been produced by Yachting Australia and adapted for the Australian market under licence from US Sailing.

Start Sailing Right The ultimate accessory for those learning to sail. This book is a beginner’s guide to sailing primarily focusing on dinghies and small yachts. Introductory Keelboat A highly visual guide for those new to daysailing keelboats. To ensure your on water experiences are enjoyable this book covers all the basic sailing concepts including boat handling, safety, docking, anchoring, basic navigation and more! Coastal Navigation – includes FREE Hydrographic Service sampler CD Navigation skills are based on the questions “Where am I now?” and “How do I safely get from here to where I want to go?” This book answers those questions by covering charts, chart work, navigational strategies, passage planning traditional navigation techniques and electronic navigational equipment. This book will benefit participants in most of the Yachting Australia Training Schemes.
