60 Stewart House Kids Go for a Sail
Pittwater was a hype of activity last Thursday night and the water was rippled with cries of joy from 60 young disadvantaged children from Stewart House at Harbord who experienced their first ever Twilight sail.
The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Newport was more than happy to accommodate the children and the event was made possible with thanks to 23 Alfred’s members, skippers and their crew who welcomed the children on-board their boats for a spin around the twilight course.
Stewart House is a school, a charity and a hospital and provides essential services to children in remote country areas. Over 2,000 children come to Stewart House each year. An organization of which the Alfred’s is proud to support.
After the race the excitement continued back at the clubhouse for a donated sausage sizzle and party. We would like to thank those companies who generously supported the event, Coca Cola, Arnott’s, Col’s Avalon Gourmet Meats, Avalon Baker’s Delight and Canon.
Stewart House Chairperson, Bill Hamilton said, "some of the children had never seen water before and could mistake Pittwater for a large lake".
He also commented the event was a huge success and it made a lot of children very happy.
