Club information Started as Derwent Sailing Boat School on 20/5/1880, changed name to Derwent Sailing School in 1884 & later to Derwent Yacht Club. Received Royal Warrant in 1908 & became The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania. Conducted its first offshore race around Bruny Island & return in 1898 making it the oldest continuously sailed offshore race in Australia. Had its centenary in 1980 & continues to prosper.
Other information Restaurant Facilities. The Bass & Flinders function room will accommodate up to 120 and has a private bar. Board Room available for small meetings of about 12 people. Air Conditioned & Heated. The Clubhouse may be accessed by car, bus, ferry or boat. Full technical facilities available.
