Overseas Qualifications
Other overseas qualifications
If you hold overseas qualifications not mentioned in other frequently asked questions and would like to use them in Australia, please contact the State or Territory Yachting Association for the area you intend to settle in.
Important things to bring with you to Australia are:
- Logbooks showing experience, conditions, vessel type and capacity.
- Any First Aid qualifications which you hold.
- Any Radio Operators Certificates which you hold.
- Your overseas certificates – with translation if the detail is not in English.
It is at the discretion of the State or Territory Yachting Association to accept your certificate towards a Yachting Australia qualification. In most cases you will be asked to undergo a reassessment. If you are decided to be not yet competent at this assessment, you will be required to complete the full course.
Yachting Australia Instructor accreditation and the associated insurance benefits are only available to Yachting Australia instructors. If you wish to teach at a Yachting Australia Training Centre, even temporarily, you must transfer your qualifications.
