Teams gear up for 2007 Westpac Australian Team Racing Championship
Sailors from Tasmania, Western Australia, New South Wales and Brisbane made their way to the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron today for the official training session in the Pacer dinghies prior to racing for the 2007 Westpac Australian Team Racing Championship which commences on Waterloo Bay tomorrow.
Registration and weigh-in will commence from 1700 hours ensuring all teams are within the 130kg minimum weight limit. Those that do not make the required maximum weight will be required to carry weights and umpires will spot check ensuring all teams abide by the rule.
The forecast of 15 knots from the north/north west is a positive sign that racing will commence at the scheduled time of 1000 hours. The breeze is however forecast to shift to the east before eventually setting in from the south/south east on Monday.
The sailors are keen to get the regatta underway with many sizing each other up on both the water during the practice session and whilst on shore.
Results will be posted on both the Yachting Australia and Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (link below) websites.
