Yachting Australia is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for sailing, and peak body for recreational boating at Clubs, in Australia. We are one of over 90 NSOs recognised by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
We are a Federation consisting of eight State and Territory Associations, who are our only members, and are often referred to as Member Yachting Associations (MYAs) or State Associations.
In turn the State Associations have nearly 380 affiliated Clubs, who between them have more than 70,000 registered active sailing members.
Yachting Australia Benefits Program
As part of your membership with a MYA affiliated club, you will receive a unique Yachting Australia Number (YA Number) and access to the Yachting Australia Member Benefits Program.
On registration, your club administrator will create a profile for you in the national database, known as myClub. You can access and edit your record at any time through a mySailor profile, accessible via the Yachting Australia website.
In recognition of your club membership, you can access a digital version of your Yachting Australia profile that you can print and retain for when you are asked to provide proof membership. This profile contains your Yachting Australia number, demonstrates you are a member of your club and if you are interested in racing, provides evidence of your compliance with the Racing Rules 46 (person in charge) and 56 (crew).
Members of multiple clubs will be able to select which club will appear on the card.
By having a Yachting Australia number, an individual is not a member of Yachting Australia, rather a member of a club which is affiliated with Yachting Australia through their State Association. The Association in turn, is a member of, and pays a fee to Yachting Australia, allowing both organisations to continue to support clubs across the country in numerous ways.
Changes to the Issuing of Silver and Gold Cards
Physical (Silver) cards have not been issued since 30 September 2014.
The benefits members receive remain unchanged, including Personal Accident Insurance and access to offers from Yachting Australia Benefits Program Partners. You do not need a physical card to access these benefits, but do need to have up to date information on mySailor.
The cost savings made by not mailing a physical card are being invested in developing and promoting sailing. In particular it has enabled a significant investment to move the online systems (myCentre, myClass, myClub, myWebsite and mySailor) to a new provider and platform, Fox Sports Pulse, a major provider of information technology solutions to many Australian sports.
It will also enable continued development and funding of the Discover Sailing Program which aims to increase participation in sailing, and grow club membership.
Personal Accident Insurance
Yachting Australia holds a Personal Accident Insurance Policy that provides insurance to all current registered Club Members.

Yachting Australia is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a voluntary Board, elected by the Member Yachting Associations. Yachting Australia operates in accordance with a Strategic Plan, developed and agreed with its MYAs. This Strategic Plan, the YA Annual Report and Financial Statements are published on this website.
