Recognition for two Queensland Clubs at Awards

Congratulations to Southport Yacht Club and Keppel Bay Sailing Club who were honoured at the Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence held on Tuesday night, with Southport Yacht Club Marketing Manager Bronwen Hemmings also recognised with the Youth Manager Encouragement Award.

Southport Yacht Club took out the Award for Best Club Innovation for their world first, exclusive waterscape pontoon bar.  The 10 metre floating pontoon is moored just off the clubhouse at Main Beach and has members and locals talking about its custom designed bar and opulent ambiance attracting plenty of clientele, presenting an Australian first in event facilities.

Marketing Manager, Bronwen Hemmings, boasts nine years industry experience, and more recently has expanded her formal qualifications by completing a Bachelor of Business degree.  She was awarded the Youth Manager Encouragement Award, rewarding her commitment to having the best possible outcome for the club front of mind, having played a pivotal role in securing major corporate sponsors for large events, whilst always displaying the highest level of professionalism.

Keppel Bay Sailing Club was recognised with the Best Sports Club Award for their extensive range of facilities, which provides for grass roots sailing right through to the professional level of national and international competitive racing.
Utilising local areas such as the Causeway Lake, the club is committed to providing safe
environments for their junior ‘Tackers’ programs which sees children from as young as five years of age gain confidence on the water and encourage engagement in the sport of sailing.  The club has also been successful in a number of major milestones with one of their members being crowned tenth in the world and two others participating in world competitions.

Congratulations to the Board, management, staff, volunteers and members of both Clubs on this achievement, many people are involved in building and supporting Clubs and it’s great to see both have been recognised.  Congratulations also to Bronwen on her Award and her contribution and commitment to Southport Yacht Club.
